UNISIGN has developed a whole range of modern turning & milling machining centres with large working envelope and excellent price/quality ratio. The integrated carousel turning station in combination with the machine’s X, Y and Z axis enables complete machining of complex components.
Complete machining of components on a single machine leads to a great reduction in handling and setting up operations. The resulting lead times of components are therefore also seriously reduced. Even more important is the increase in product quality as the components can be produced against tighter tolerances. Together with shorter cycle times, the mill-turn concept has proven itself ideal for a whole range of companies and products.
UNISIGN has developed a range of machining centres combining turning and milling operations in one machine configuration. This UNINEWS will summarize the individual machine configurations and fields of applications.
UNICOM
The UNICOM machines are based on a moving table with integrated carousel turning station and an interface to receive pallets. The table movement is designated as Y-axis and it runs underneath a stationary portal bridge with cross slide and spindle carrier (X- and Z-axis). The pallet changer contains 2 or more pallets and is located at the rear side of the machine but the conveniently located loading station offers ideal access for the operator.
UNIPORT
The gantry configuration with travelling bridge and stationary table makes the UNIPORT a highly flexible machining platform. The proven flexibility is further increased by integrating a carousel turning table at one end of the X‑axis. From general machining to the complete machining of components, the UNIPORT machining centres can be fully adapted to almost any manufacturing task!
EXCHANGEABLE MACHINING HEADS
In addition to vertical operations, the UNICOM and UNIPORT machining centres offer a variety of machining heads. For turning operations, a fully automatic turning tool adapter is automatically attached to the spindle nose of the ram. This ensures that the cutting forces are directed directly into the ram, not impacting the spindle bearings, resulting in a longer spindle life time.
The machines can also be configured in a full 5-axis machining centre while indexable heads are also available.
APPLICATIONS
The UNICOM and UNIPORT machining centres are ideally suited for applications where large complex, ring-, cone- or cylindrically shaped components require machining to highest accuracy standards. Typical products are wind turbine components, components for power generation equipment, aerospace engine parts, pump and valve housings, compressors, turbo chargers, centrifugal separators, etc.
